Indian Summer

We are still here!!

I'm loving this weather lately! Where was this in July? We went for a walk around the river about a week ago. It was beautiful! Grant is such a ham!

Some day I really will start posting more regularly.  It's just that these two mugs keep me pretty busy!

I am finally starting to catch up on all of your blogs. I am really behind. I promise to read and start commenting again!

Update

Okay I'm tired of the same old post at the top of my page but every time I think about posting I just get overwhelmed. I'm so behind! Sheesh. So I'll put up a few pictures and I'll update more thoroughly later. Things are good here. We're potty training this week, and after day 3, I think we might be successful by the end of the week!

Here's Grant on one of the "art you can sit on" benches downtown. My niece and I tried to find all of the benches- it was fun!

Evenings

I love LOVE our backyard view on nights like this- the sound of sprinklers on farmer's fields, the sun setting, and a cool breeze. Both kids are in bed. Heaven! I'm going out to sit on the swing!

Falling...

This video makes Grant laugh so hard when he watches it. Don't worry, he was okay!

Brazilian Lemonade

My friend Sharee got me started doing Bountiful Baskets last week and I love it! You get fresh produce once a week for a great price. Last week one of the fruits in the basket was key limes. I didn't know what to do with them and Sharee suggested Brazilian Lemonade. We made it tonight and tried it out with Tyson's family, and I'd say it was a success! It's a refreshing, slightly tart drink. We didn't have enough key limes to serve the whole family, so we bought some regular (Persian) limes at the store to supplement. Nothing was exact in our recipe, we just added until we thought it tasted good. Here's it is:

6 limes, quartered with ends cut off (we used 4 regular and 5 key limes)
3/4 - 1 cup sugar
6 Tbsp sweetened condensed milk
6-7 cups water

Blend the limes, sugar, milk and water until limes are chopped up. Pour through a wire/mesh strainer into a pitcher. Then pour 1-2 cups water over the strainer while it's still on the pitcher to get the rest of the juice and sugar. Remove the strainer and add about 1-2 cups chopped ice.
Serves 12

This didn't fit in the blender all at once, so we did half at a time.
I think the slushier the better, so next time I think I'd use less water and more ice.Yum!

Grant's Post

I'm having quite the time figuring out how to mother two children. I might be going crazy!!  Grant LOVES his sister just a bit much. And he asks THOUSANDS of questions all the time. Last night for family scriptures, Tyson read Moroni 7:45 about charity- I'm pretty sure he was hinting to me. :) I'm really trying to have patience!!  I'm trying to give him attention and be a good mom, but it's hard to balance. But I sure love both of my kids. Anyway, here's a post just for Grant.

We took Grant to the dentist (Grandpa :)) in January and found out Grant had 5 (!!) cavities. We brush his teeth every day and he rarely drinks juice and candy intake is limited, so we were really surprised. Especially since Tyson has never had a cavity and I've only had 1! We think maybe it has to do with being premature? In any case, he had to get them filled. He had his first of several visits last week and he did great! I was amazed how calm he stayed- could have been the prayer we said first or maybe the laughing gas. :) When we got home of course I kept asking him to smile for the camera because his little crooked smile was so cute!

Life is good and I'm grateful to have 2 wonderful kids!!

Newborn pics

My friend Kelly asked if she could take Kadri's pictures. We said SURE! I think she did a great job! Thanks Kelly! Kadri at 8 days old:

On the Apricot Tree

Grant conducts our Family Home Evening music and loves it, especially now that he has his baton. We figured out that the words to Popcorn say Kadri's name: "I looked out the window and what did I see... Popcorn popping on the apriKADRI." Grant thinks it's great! And this video is funny. Too bad the real blossoms on apricot trees at my grandparent's froze last night! I want nice weather!!!!

Baby

These pictures just don't do justice to Kadri. She is so cute in real life! :) I can't believe she is already 2 weeks old, yet in other ways I can't imagine what our family was like before she came! There have definitely been some hard times (lack of sleep!!!) but overall we are so blessed and happy to have her here.
She is a good baby, so mellow and so tolerant of her big brother "loving" her. I try not to nag Grant too much about it, because he really does think that he's hugging/snuggling her, while it seems more like smothering/squashing to me. So far he has adjusted pretty well; the hardest time of day is when he wakes up from his nap. He's not used to sharing my lap.  Is it possible that I love him more now that I share my love with his sister, too? Crazy how that works. I was worried that I wouldn't be able to love them both! Somehow it works out though.
Newborns bring a really sweet spirit and there are times when I feel like Kadri is staring right at me- her eyes seem to focus on mine and she looks so wise. What do babies think about?

Introducing...

Kadri (pronounced so it rhymes with Audrey- it's an Estonian name) joined our family early Sunday morning and we are so happy that she is here! The labor went very fast and the doctor let Tyson deliver her. We have really enjoyed being able to bring her home so soon. She is a great baby and as soon as we can get some sleep, I'll update a little more!

Painting Toenails=love

Normally I would not post a picture of my foot anywhere, because I don't think my feet are very cute. But Grant and Tyson painted my toenails for me, and it was just too cute. Now every time Grant sees them, he is so proud. Didn't he do a great job? Tyson fixed them up a bit afterward. :) I'm lucky to have such great men in my life!

Easter and a project

Here's Grant after finding his stash on Saturday. We enjoyed watching general conference, especially the afternoon session, which Grant slept through. :) And here's a project that's been on my to-do list for awhile. I bought the wood-framed magnet board and used Mod podge and scrapbook paper to make it cute. I'm just trying to stay busy while we wait for the baby. It's hard to wait when we've been thinking for 7 weeks now that it could be any time! I'm 39 weeks today. We'll see.

Just kiddin!

The first day of spring in March 20. Ha! You live in Idaho! April Fool's!
Although I did have one reeeeeeeally happy boy excited about the snow on the ground when he woke up from his nap! Seriously, he has been playing outside since then. I can't get him to come inside!
On an unrelated note, I have a question for anyone who has hard water. What dish detergent and rinse agent do you use? I've been using Electrasol and JetDry since we moved here 2 years ago and suddenly my dishes have white scum on all their surfaces. I am trying a white vinegar rinse, again, for a temporary fix but I want to know... what works for you?
