I wish I had a picture to go with this! I got this recipe from my sister, Carolyn, and we love it!
Spicy Cheese Sauce:
1 lb ground beef (this wasn't in the original recipe)
3 Tbsp butter
3 Tbsp flour
3/4 cup milk
1/4 cup water
1 tsp chicken bullion granules (or 1 cube)
1 can Italian stewed tomatoes
1/4 tsp crushed red pepper
1/8 tsp black pepper
1 tsp oregano
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
Cook beef, drain and set aside. Melt butter in a large pot. Stir in flour, and then add milk, water, and chicken bullion. Cook and stir until thickened. Add tomatoes. (I run mine through a food processor first because I don't like chunks. I recommend this!) Add seasonings. Bring to a boil reduce heat and simmer. Add hamburger and cheese and stir until melted. Serve over noodles. We like bow tie noodles, but any kind would work. Yum!

Quick Kid Activity
Grant loves putting objects inside containers so I decided to make him this. (I got the idea from my friend, Cindy.) Plus it's great for improving small-motor skills!
Supplies:
- Mason jar with lid and ring
- Hammer
- Nail
- Toothpicks
Instructions:
1. Hammer holes into lid using nail.
2. Show toddler how to drop toothpicks into the jar.
3. Dump toothpicks out and start over.
4. Repeat as necessary.
Grant had fun watching me make it. He only lasts about 5 minutes at a time playing with it. But it only took me 30 seconds to make and it was free so I guess that's pretty good!

Mormonism
I just finished watching a video clip here that I wanted to share. The girl speaking is Rachel Esplin, a 20-year-old native of Blackfoot, ID attending Harvard. She is interviewed about her faith by journalist Sally Quin. I was extremely impressed with her ability to express her views. Although a bit lengthy (about 20 minutes) I felt it was very uplifting and has made me feel very introspective about my own faith. Anyway, hope you enjoy!

Try-It-Tuesdays...on Friday
My friend Stevie shares recipes on Tuesdays, so I was going to join in on the fun this week. But I didn't get around to it until today. It has been really busy this week! Luckily I found a great meal idea on Monday, and it has been feeding us all week!
Braided Calzone (The recipe I used is here)
1 1/4 c water
2 tsp yeast
Combine, allow to sit for about 10 minutes until bubbly.
Add:
1/2 tsp oregano
1/2 tsp basil (I didn't have any)
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp salt
1 tsp powdered milk
1 1/2 Tbsp sugar
3 c flour
Knead for a few minutes, then form into a ball. Place into a greased bowl, turning once so all sides of the dough are greased.
Allow to raise until double. (To speed this process up, I put a glass pan of really hot water in the oven and then put the bowl of dough in the oven with a cloth on top and closed the door. I only had it in there for about 25 minutes.)
While it's raising, put together the ingredients for the pizza filling (this is enough filling for a double-batch of dough):
1 lb ground beef, cooked and drained
Chopped green/red peppers, onions, etc. I sauteed them in a little butter until tender-crisp
sliced olives
pepperoni
mozzarella cheese
spaghetti sauce
You could use anything for the filling, this is just what we like.
I doubled the recipe and used half to make the braided calzone, which we ate for dinner on Monday and lunch on Tuesday. With the other half, I made 8 mini calzones and this is what I recommend! Much easier and yummier!
Split the dough into eight pieces and on a floured surface, roll each piece into a circle
Add a spoonful of sauce, then add other pizza fillings
Fold in half and seal with water. Use a fork to press the edges closed. Poke holes in top.
Cook for 30 minutes at 350.
After letting the mini calzones cool, I froze them and we've been having them for lunch. They are delicious! I like them even more than the braided calzone! It's so easy to throw a lunch together for Tyson to take to work. Take 2 out of the freezer and toss in. Done! Well, I do add a small container of leftover spaghetti sauce so he can dip them. But see how easy that is? Grant loved helping me add the filling to the mini calzones.
This picture seriously doesn't do them justice. And I didn't have time to take a picture of the braided calzone. We were hungry! I'm making it again in a few weeks- a double batch again, but this time I'm only making the mini ones. It might seem a bit time-consuming, but it sure lasted us a long time!

Writer's Block for Post Title
I really did have good intentions of posting more often, but February came and went before I could! We've been busy, although when I try to think about what I've been doing, I can't come up with much. Mostly I hang around this bugger.
He is always entertaining, that's for sure! After we cleaned up dinner tonight, he dumped a bag of Raisin Bran all over the floor.
Either I was too tired to react or I've learned how to relax a little because all I could do was laugh when he did it! And get this-Tyson was the one who pulled out the camera! I thanked him for the blogging material.
Random thoughts-
We've shown our house a few times, nothing too exciting there.
Tyson really likes his new job, and even the driving isn't too bad.
My piano students are playing in festival this weekend and it will be great to have that stress done with.
Weekly trips to the library for story time continue. However Grant was "naughty libree" (in his words) last time we went. He claims he will be a good boy this time.
I've really been into coupon clipping, buying in bulk, and anything to save money on the grocery bill. Thanks for getting me going on it, Brooke! I've found some great sites, mostly through Brooke, my SIL- the links are on the sidebar.
That's about all!
